Northeast Stock Horse Association Announces 2013 Show Season!

The Northeast Stock Horse Association (NSHA) is pleased to announce its 2013 Show Season, featuring six events in Virginia and Pennsylvania showcasing East Coast stock horses of all breeds and their riders.

The show season will culminate in a two-day show event in Virginia October 12-13, which, along with one other show, would qualify contestants for year-end awards, to be announced at an awards banquet in early 2014. Contestants qualify for year-end awards by competing in any three 2013 NHSA shows.

NSHA is family oriented and the NSHA board welcomes riders and spectators of all ages and disciplines. Our signature events include the stock horse classes, which entail trail, reining patterns and individual cow work. You may also be interested in the ranch versatility classes, which entail ranch cutting, reining, roping, riding, and trail. You can enter any one – or do all of them to be eligible for the ranch versatility award at year end. Or try your hand at the Cowboy X-Challenge. NSHA offers Open, Limited Open, Amateur, and Senior/Junior Youth classes at every show, including Green Rider options.

NSHA shows are in Virginia earlier and later in the year and in Pennsylvania during the hotter months. Here is the show schedule:

  • NSHA Spring Kickoff, Saturday May 4, at Cornerstone Horsemanship, 5229 Homestead Trail, Reva, VA 22735
  • NSHA Cowboy Showcase, Saturday June 8, at Cornerstone Horsemanship
  • NSHA Summer Shootout, Saturday July 13, at Wellsville Arena, 1645 Lisburn Rd, Wellsville, PA 17365
  • NSHA Fall Roundup, Saturday September 7, at Wellsville Arena
  • NSHA Double Barrel Showdown, Sat-Sun October 12-13 at Cornerstone Horsemanship

Visit our website at www.northeaststockhorseassociation.net for more information, including competition rules, forms, online show sign-ups, standings and a description of show classes. You can also find them on Facebook, or call Charles Pellham, NSHA president, at 540-292-5213 for more, including details our new affiliate show program.

Congratulations and thanks to our 2012 Champions and participants, and a hearty welcome to all newcomers interested in preserving and promoting the East Coast stock horse in 2013.

    Come have fun with us!
