If you want tips and advice for improving your horse farm/property, then this tour is for you!
Saturday, November 5, 2016 @ 10am
4540 Sudley Road, Gainesville, VA 20155
Back in 2008, the Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District (District) received a grant from the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to turn a horse farm into a model horse farm. We installed several best management practices, using cost-effective solutions, to improve the pastures while protecting the soil and water.
Through the tour, you'll see these practices, which include:
Vegetated buffer along a stream adjacent to the property
Frost-free automatic watering troughs (no electricity required!)
Rotational grazing systems
Manure storage bins
Variety of different types of fencing
We will also have before pictures of the farm so you can see how well these practices work!
The tour starts at 10am and usually takes an hour, give or take. No registration is required. This event is free. Please note that there will be no restroom facilities available on the property.
Also note that this is a private farm. If you can't make this tour but would like to see the farm, please contact the District (see below for contact information).
For questions or comments, you can contact the District at 571-379-7514 or e-mail Nicole Slazinski at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also visit our website at www.pwswcd.org.
