About Great Meadow Foundation
Nestled in the heart of Virginia's Piedmont countryside, Great Meadow is a 375-acre public park and event center that plays hosts to over 50 large-scale equestrian and community related events throughout the year. Great Meadow operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation of open space for community use.
As an Intern your role will be to work as an integral part of our dedicated and enthusiastic staff by providing support to all aspects of Great Meadow's operations including event planning & production, marketing & promotions, customer service & hospitality, fundraising & ticket sales, networking, office management and much more.
You will learn first hand not only all aspects of event planning and production, but also the finer points of running and growing a non-profit organization. You will be encouraged to share ideas, offer insight and help contribute to Great Meadow's overall mission. You will have the opportunity to participate in organizing a variety of different special events like the Virginia Gold Cup Races, Twilight Polo, Great Meadow International, and our annual Independence Celebration, along with dozens of other community activities that occur on the grounds. Interns will also help with the day-to-day office operations and other administrative tasks as required.
MUST be available to work on weekends and some evenings on a part-time basis
Physically fit and able to lift 40 pounds
Maintains professional demeanor and phone etiquette
Ability to self-regulate time management. (Work without constant supervision)
MUST provide own, reliable transportation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Enthusiasm for event management and production
The desire to grow your own skill set while helping the organization meet its mission.
Knowledge of Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis in Word and Excel
Equestrian knowledge is not required, but encouraged

Hours are flexible and negotiable (typically 20-25 hours a week), but all interns must be available on weekends and evenings as dictated by the 2017 event schedule.
