ABOUT GREAT MEADOW FOUNDATION: Nestled in the heart of Virginia's Piedmont countryside, Great Meadow is a 375-acre public park and event center that plays hosts to over 50 large-scale equestrian and community related events throughout the year. Great Meadow operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation of open space for community use.
POSITION: The Director of Marketing & Promotions oversees logistics of all event marketing and promotions. This position will prepare a timeline for execution of marketing and promotional strategies for all managed events (including, but not limited to, Twilight Polo, Great Meadow International, Independence Celebration, Trail Rides, and Life Member activities). Produce and adhere to a promotional budget for all managed events that conforms to timeline in an effective and efficient way. Produce all printed and electronic promotions for all managed events. Create and schedule day-to-day social media postings utilizing SEO. Support sponsor promotion at managed events. Develop and maintain a public relations program with local and national media outlets. Support all tenant events in their promotional needs as agreed in their event MOU. Update and edit both websites, as needed. Act as event manager for Twilight Polo.
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree required. In extraordinary cases, extensive work experience may substitute for the degree provided it is directly related to the responsibilities of the job.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of marketing experience and direct exposure to equestrian sport required. Management experience preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES: The ideal candidate is extremely level-headed, calm, able to multi-task without becoming stressed/burned out, and can maintain this over long periods of time while under immense pressure. Must also have big-picture strategy skills as well as strong writing skills, organization, and attention to detail. Must be an excellent team player, and have the ability to manage others. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, and Google Drive.
