Mansfield Farm in the Somerset area seeks part-time barn help from an experienced horse lover. We are home to seven healthy horses in work six days a week. (In mid-May, two horses will travel north for the season.) Please note that while our horses are safe and polite, this is not a position suitable for novice handlers.

The ideal candidate:

- lives local to the Somerset/Uno area with reliable transportation
- is available 3 weekday mornings for approximately 3-5 hours per day
- is willing to perform rare (1-2x/month) evening and/or weekend chores, and even rarer (read: aspirational) short term farm sitting while owners are away
- works equally well alone and alongside owners

Chores and necessary skills entail:

- feeding horses
- leading up to three horses at a time
- grooming, wellness assessments, and attentiveness to health irregularities (e.g. colic, laminitis, allergic reactions, general malaise, etc.)
- mucking and making up stalls
- assembling daily feed
- cleaning tack
- general barn cleaning and organization
- picking and harrowing pastures via ATV
- excellent communication

Gold-star employee/optional skills entail:

- adroit lunging of both young and senior horses
- tractor proficiency (connecting attachments, spreading manure, harrowing arena)
- light gardening (watering and weeding) in exchange for vegetable harvest

Candidates *must be* smoke/drug free and over the age of 18.

We offer a state-of-the-art facility, a fun work environment, and the company of wonderful horses. While students are enthusiastically encouraged to apply for summer employment, we would especially love to find someone willing to stay on through the seasons to assist year round.

Please email me to express interest. Thank you!
